《獨眼巨人博士》是由知名导演Ernest B. Schoedsack 执导的一部科幻片，阿爾伯特·德科 Thomas Coley Jani 等倾情出演，该片讲述了： " Dr. Cyclo ps" is known as one of the better "early sci-fi "; fi lms, made in & #39;39 an d released in 1940. (It is also in color.) But while the s tory has poten tial and ther e are s ome good momen ts, th is is a very co nfus ed film. The plot is simple - crazy ma d scientist on some remote isla nd can shrink animals, an d wa nts to try it on humans. He manages t his on a s cientific team that came to check th ings out. They get angry, and the c razy scientist event ually ge ts really ang ry because his new shrunke n subjects won';t cooperate. The thing is, the film doesn't seem to know if it wa nts to be a thrill er, or a g oofy movie . Dr. Cyclops ( never called that bu t re fere nced to a Cyclops af ter one lens in his glasse s breaks) looks cool in his "30's style sci-fi helme t" as he performs e xperiments a nd can be ch illing at t imes. But there is so much "Disney -style goofy music" going o n that it is hard to take anyth ing seriously. The mu sic belongs i n a fa mily comedy for the most part, and is pl ayed when the shrunken peo ple do thin gs like try to surviv e, and creep around the floo r. Add that a few of them have p retty grueso me deaths and t hat just add s to the confusing a tmosphere. The FX aren't so bad but nothing s pecial. T he giant set s built are prett y impressive though. There is a scene whe re little fires are tossed a t a real cr ocodi le's head which probably m ade ani mal activists ang ry. It als o takes a long time for anythin g to really ha ppen. Thi s movie could hav e be en done in a nice tight half -hour . Good for a viewing, but you p robably won't w atch ag ain.
